Tooth Extractions – Bellevue, WA

Creating a Healthy Foundation For Your Smile

Hearing that you need a tooth extraction in Bellevue can make you feel scared, but with the right dental team by your side, the process is fast and pain-free. At Bellevue Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, we only resort to tooth extractions when it’s absolutely necessary for our patients in order for them to maintain healthy smiles and not sustain additional damage to their mouth. If we aren’t able to save your natural tooth, we’ll likely need to remove it in order to preserve your remaining pearly whites. Fortunately, we offer several replacement options and make sure that you don’t feel an ounce of pain during the process.

Signs You May Need An Extraction

While many of our patients who need tooth extractions visit our office with toothaches, there are also other symptoms that could point towards the need for this procedure. Here are some other signs to keep an eye out for that may indicate the need for tooth removal:

  • Your tooth is visibly decayed or damaged and a filling won’t be able to repair it.
  • The root of your tooth is infected and a root canal wasn’t able to cure it.
  • Your teeth are crowded and there’s not enough room in your mouth to straighten them using orthodontic treatment.
  • Your teeth are impacted and there’s not enough space in your jawbone to allow them to safely grow in your mouth.
  • A tooth is loose due to gum disease.

If you notice any of these symptoms or feel discomfort, be sure to contact our emergency dentist in Bellevue immediately so we can schedule an appointment to examine the affected area of your mouth. If we spot an issue, we’ll form a treatment plan and quickly execute it so you don’t have to spend several days in pain.

Types of Tooth Extractions

Based on our examination of your X-rays and the visual inspection of your mouth that we’ll conduct, we’ll let you know which type of tooth extraction we’ll need to perform to solve your issue.

Multiple Tooth

Some patients with genetic oral health issues, have severe decay, or experienced dental trauma may require the removal of multiple teeth. During your appointment, we’ll outline a treatment plan for you and discuss restoration options to help you regain the function and appearance of your complete smile.

Wisdom Tooth

For patients who have wisdom teeth that don’t have enough room in their mouth to safely allow them to grow in, we’ll likely suggest removing them in order to prevent oral health problems from developing down the road. If they become stuck beneath the gums, they can cause infection, decay, and even misalignment issues.

Post-Op Care Tips

After your extraction procedure, we’ll provide you with some instructions to take care of your mouth and make sure that you heal quickly and without complications. We may recommend that you:

  • Take a couple of days to rest if you’re able to.
  • Maintain a soft diet and chew on the side of your mouth that wasn’t operated on.
  • Take mild pain killers to ease your discomfort.
  • Use a cold compress on your face to minimize any swelling.
  • Don’t drink from a straw.
  • Stick to your dental hygiene routine, but don’t brush the extraction site directly.

If you have any questions after your procedure, don’t hesitate to contact our office! Our team will be more than happy to address your concerns and make sure that your healing process is complication-free.
